The Background
The owner of ASTER, Mr. Andre Sterchi began in oil at Vanol Trading AG in Zug Switzerland in 1988, and continued for nine years at Esso (Switzerland) in Zurich, then a daughter-company of ECI (Exxon Company International) which became ExxonMobil in 1999. Esso (Switzerland) was sold to SOCAR (State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic) in 2012, as part of its international expansion into European downstream activities – and is now SOCAR Energy Switzerland.
- 1988-1989: Junior oil trader at Vanol Trading AG, Zug, Switzerland
- 1989-1998: At Esso (Switzerland), Andre worked in the Supply & Trading Department, and from 1994 until 1998 in the International Aviation Marketing & Sales Department.
- September 1999: aster airservices incorporated in Zug, Switzerland.
- August 2004: aster relocated to Dubai, UAE. aster was incorporated as a free zone company (FZCO) within DAFZA-Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority.
- February 2010: aster moved to the newly established free zone DMCC-Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. aster airservices was re-branded aster JETFUEL DMCC.
- September 2013: Moving back to the country of his birth, ASTER JETFUEL PVT LTD was incorporated as an offshore company in Sri Lanka.
- March 2016: Due to restrictive foreign-exchange policies still present in Sri Lanka ASTER was incorporated as a Gibraltar non-resident company under the same name.
